Interviews with former recruits of the NVA form the basis for a fictional reconstruction. Looking back on what is no longer there, a complex structure is revealed, told as a retrofuturistic story and accessible via headphones. “The human factor” – a booming term in recent economic psychology – remains error-prone and ultimately unpredictable. Drill and barracking represent unpopular countermeasures in the respective power system. Mixed with sound recorded on site, the half-documentary, half-fictional material became the soundtrack for visitors’ perception in the empty barracks rooms.
