With experimental curiosity and an intuitive sense for social change, Silvia Beck seeks in her artistic work a kind of contemporary witness and self-positioning in relation to the world and the “art world”.

From fictitious documentation, freely invented contexts or improvised role-playing – the newly created arrangements ambivalently and playfully combine subjective consciousness and perceptual experience on the one hand with external systems on the other (Parallel Systems).

The various projects and exhibitions follow long-term work cycles that are interlinked: For example, she focuses on the relationship between neuroscience and technology as well as surveillance and control. She is also interested in the connection between identity, media realities and global power structures. In doing so, she questions current codes of art and artistic role models.

As a founding member of the LSD Gallery on Potsdamer Strasse, she introduced the fictional artist Viola Kamp to the Berlin art scene in 2012.
