Interviews with former NVA recruits form the basis for a fictional reconstruction. Looking back on what is absent reveals a complex structure, told as a retrofuturistic story and accessible via headphones. “The human factor”— a buzzword in recent economic psychology — remains prone to error and ultimately unpredictable. Drill and barracks life represent unpopular countermeasures within the respective power system. Mixed with on-site sound recordings, the half-documentary, half-fictional material became the soundtrack for visitors’ perceptions within the empty barracks.
